A native of Illinois, Curtis Pettyjohn initially came to "bodywork" in the late 1970s due to chronic pain resulting from an auto accident.  The Structural Therapy he received eliminated the pain and corrected the source of the problem he had experienced for years -- a problem that Western medicine had not been able to fix.

Subsequent injuries found him returning to the bodywork table for healing treatments.  Experiencing the benefits of Structual Therapy helped him understand how this work could facilitate and improve the performance of so many people in varying professions. In the mid-1980s, Curtis trained at the Chicago Center for Advanced Bodywork in Chicago, Illinois.  Upon graduation, he had the honor of being asked to join the esteemed cooperative of healers at the Chicago Center.

Since then, he has maintained a practice in Chicago, including many of his original clients that he has treated regularly for more than 20 years. He was a founding member of the Structural Therapy Institute.

Over the years, Curtis has performed bodywork on patients in hospitals and hospice, children with autism and people fighting cancer and other life threatening illness. He has helped professional performers from rock stars to opera singers, amateur to Olympic and professional athletes, and instrumentalists, conductors, actors and members of national dance companies.

Curtis is an avid reader of books and news-sources. He enjoys involvement in community re-development, from grassroots politics to rehabbing historic buildings and urban gardening projects. He has raised many pound-puppies. He enjoys nature photography and the creation of artwork from photos. He is an ordained Minister of the Universal Life Church.

A member of the Screen Actors Guild and Actors' Equity, Curtis has worked as a professional actor in TV and radio commercials, film and theater.
